Understand it without reading: pictures for units and steps

In shortSo children who are still learning to read can see what to do, we added 39 unit pictures, step previews and new poses for the stage characters.

A picture for every unit

Unit cards on the stage screen now have pictures. Addition shows cookies sliding together, time shows an alarm clock with no numerals, and size shows mats of different sizes. All 39 were newly made with an image generation model, with no letters or numerals in them.

The Stage 2 screen with the sheep character above unit cards, each with a picture showing what the unit means.
Each unit has a picture showing what it means.

A real problem picture for every step

The step list on a unit screen shows a small version of a real problem from that step, so children can guess the activity before reading. Answers are not shown.

A unit screen where each step in the list shows a small version of a real problem.
Each step shows a small version of a real problem.

Characters stay with you

The character you meet when choosing a stage now comes along to the unit, explanation, problem and result screens. All 8 have three new poses.

  • Thinking: thinks along while you read an explanation.
  • Cheering: jumps with you for a correct answer or a star.
  • Encouraging: says it is okay when an answer is wrong.
The result screen with three stars, the score, XP, time taken, new badges, and Try again and Next step buttons.
Each round ends with stars, XP and any new badges.
